Charles Louis Roberson
On the morning of Monday March 11th, 2019 Charles L. Roberson was granted his angel wings. Although this was unexpected, he was always surrounded by family and friends that were fond of him reminiscing on his memorable life.
Mr. Roberson was born December 14, 1937 in Memphis, Tennessee where he grew up, a son,of the late Clifton Roberson and Minnie Louise (Purdy) Roberson.
Charles joined the U.S. Armed Forces and served in the United states Navy. He was awarded a Purple Heart and Silver Star for his bravery in the Vietnam War. Upon return to the states he worked as storeroom keeper/ logistics specialist and was released as Chief Petty Officer after 21 years of service. In 1969 He met the love of his life, Rosita (Opanda) Roberson while in the Philippines. They were married in 1970 and relocated to San Diego, California where he spent most of his life with family and many friends. Charles graduated from National University where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and earned a Real Estate License. After his release from the military he worked for Civil Service for 30+ years. Charles enjoyed his morning walks and spending time with his family. Although he didn’t show it, he was very family oriented. He loved family events and would always volunteer to host at his home.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, and beloved wife of 48 years. He left behind to witness his home going and to cherish his memory three children Otheria Roberson, Marvin O. (Zaydie) Roberson of San Diego, CA, and Sharon F. Roberson Brown (Rico) of San Diego, CA, his seven grandchildren; Corey, Princess, Zydrick, Zynthia, Zhanessa, Zamantha, and Aaryah, and four great grandchildren.
Charles touched the lives of many people with his smile, laughter and maintained his trademark of generosity all the way to the end.
Friends and family are invited to attend his visitation, April 1st, 2019, 9AM – 12PM, followed by his Celebration of Life at Greenwood Memorial Park and Mortuary, located at 4300 lmperial Avenue, San Diego, California 92113.
The Roberson family requests in lieu of flowers all donations be sent to the Disabled American Veterans.
