Francisco Pollorena

Francisco (Frank) Pollorena was born May 28, 1946 in Tijuana and grew up in Libertad parte baja, He came to this country for an education and volunteered to serve in the United States Army and fought in the Vietnam War in order to earn his citizenship for a county he loved. He was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Aircraft Crew Badge. He was always very proud to have worked on the choppers in Vietnam. Frank graduated from San Diego State University with a bachelor's degree. He was GS 12, worked at North Island Naval Station as a Civil Engineer and then worked at 32nd St. PWC as a Mechanical Designer Engineer. Frank is preceded in death by his parents Chrisotomo Juan and Maria, brother Roberto and sister Isabelle. He is survived by his 2 sons, Roberto (Laurie) and Louis, both of San Diego. His niece Carmelita (Ross), his brothers John, Rudy, Manuel, Albert, sister Dolores and many nieces and nephews. Frank was known for wearing Hawaiian shirts, an Indiana Jones style hat and would always tell his sons to "be cool and stay calm". A memorial service will be held on June 2nd at 1:30 Pm at Greenwood Memorial Park in Our Lady of Guadalupe. The family asks if you attend to try to wear something Hawaiian in honor of Frank.
