Celebrating the life of Abel Roberto GamboaBorn on August 15, 1935 in El Paso Texas, Abel was the 3rd of 7 siblings born to Abel Gamboa Sr. and Guadalupe Rosas Gamboa. He fathered a son at the age of 18, Roberto Gamboa. At the age of 25, Abel moved to Los Angeles, California with his good friend, in search of better opportunities and it is there that he met the love of his life and mother of his daughter Hilda. Alicia Segura soon became Mrs. Gamboa and Hilda was born in 1966.In 1969, the Gamboa’s moved to San Diego, California. Abel became a widower in 2012 and he lived at Villa Merced for the remainder of his life. It is here that he made great friends, became a singer for the Villa Merced Rondalla and enjoyed participating in activities offered to the seniors that lived there.He was a very outgoing and happy man with a unique sense of humor. He supported children with cancer and children in Cambodia. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was very liked and respected. He used to call his daughter Hilda every day and wished her a goodnight, gave her his blessing and said “I love you.Abel Roberto Gamboa will be greatly missed by the community as well as his family. Survivors include: Daughter Hilda Gamboa, grandchildren Emmy Olea, Andrea Hurtado, Daniela Hurtado and Adrian Hurtado. Great grandchildren are Isabelle, Isai, Daniel, Giulianna, Alicia, Victor.
