Abraham Perez's Obituary
Abraham Perez, Sr, passed away peacefully at his home in San Diego, CA on Monday, January 22, 2024, surrounded by his wife and family. He was born on April 18, 1934, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. He was the second son of 14 siblings born to Jose R. Perez and Maria Nuño. In 1952, at the age of 18, he came to the U.S. under the Bracero Program (an executive order called MX Farm Labor program stablished the “Bracero Program in 1942, permitting millions of Mexican men to work legally in the United States). In 1965, he married Raquel Perez, the love of his life. When he was congratulated for being married almost 59 years, he would jokingly answer “and to the same woman!”. He established his family in San Diego where his five sons and his daughter were born. In June of 1996, he became a U.S. citizen. He proudly worked as a landscaper in San Diego, then retired in 1998 to enjoy his time with his wife, family, grandkids, great-grandkids, gardening, and traveling. He was a humble, intelligent, funny, witty man with strong morals and values. He was surrounded by immense love from his family.
