Aki was a member of the Escondido Rock Steady Boxing Care Partners support group that met once a month at a local restaurant. This group was formed to give support and a little respite for its members who had love ones living with Parkinson's. I appreciated Aki's smiles and laughter during those enjoyable gatherings. I met Akie for the first time when we signed our children up for a co-op pre school in Poway in 1974. We became good friends for the next 50 years. We played Bunko together for 30+ years until I moved to Arizona. We kept our friendship going through e-mails and lunches when I came back to Poway for visits or when she came to Arizona to see her grandsons play soccer. We had a tradition of going Christmas shopping together for years but usually ended up having dinner, talking for hours and not getting much done, but those memories are so precious. The last time I saw her was about 3 years ago when we met for lunch. She looked so good and happy. I will miss her and remember her for the rest of my life.
