Albert William Geno's Obituary
Albert William Geno, beloved father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, February 11, 2024. He was 94 years old and had lived a long and wonderful life.
Albert was born on December 17, 1929 in Mendon, Vermont, the son of Lizam and Julia Geno of Mendon. He attended Rutland High School and joined the Army, serving his country as a Medic in Korea. He met and married the love of his life, Janet Dorothy Tancreti, in 1953.
He and Janet moved their young family to Chula Vista, California in 1957 where he secured a job at Rohr Aircraft. He managed the Golden Arrow Dairy for many years and then worked in Civil Service at North Island as a Planner/Estimator. He retired from Civil Service in 1996. Still needing to keep busy, he and Janet volunteered at the Olympic Training Center in Otay Lakes, giving tours and ferrying athletes to and from the airport and to events.
In the late 70’s, Al found tennis, taking a class at Southwestern College. Tennis became his passion and life-long activity. He joined a tennis club, The Naughty Netters, and spent a lot of time with this special group of people. Tennis kept him active into his 90’s.
Albert was a practitioner of the Catholic faith and was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church for more than 60 years. Religion was a big part of who he was.
He is survived by his four children: Anne Larkin and Chris, Michael, and Jenné Geno, nine grandchildren: Stephanie, Christine, Vanessa, Rylee, Bethany, Anthony, Taylor, Timothy, and Rebecca, and nine great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Ryan, Stefan, Ryder, Anthony, Aleksis, Mia, Felina, and Kataleya. He also leaves his younger sister, Shirley Geno.
Al Geno loved his wife of 60 years, his family, his home, God, his country, the Chargers, and tennis. He was a passionate, hardworking man who built a wonderful and fulfilling life. He lives on in all of us and the memories he made.
