Hom, Albert's Obituary
Albert passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on August 27, 2024 in Escondido
CA. Albert was 90 years old and was born on September 7, 1933, in San Diego, CA. He
graduated from San Diego High School, where he was on the wrestling team. He served
in the National Guard from 1952-1960. For most of his life, Albert worked in the family
business at David Produce. He was also a businessman and owned several businesses,
from a Chinese fast food restaurant, to the neighborhood produce and grocery store.
Albert loved to fish and spent many weekends on the half day fishing boats. He credits
his love for fishing to his sister-in-law, Carmen Moreno, who he said, taught him everything he new about fishing. He shared his love for fishing with friends and family.
Albert was a friendly and social person. He created many friendships with individuals
through work, with members at his church, with his neighbors, and with the managers
and employees at the stores where he shopped.
He loved to shop. Always looking for the best bargain regardless if it was something he
needed or not. He learned how to use his cellphone to find and keep up with the
weekly sales.
Albert leaves behind a legacy of generosity and kindness. He was always ready to give a
friend or family member a box of candy, or a bag of produce.
He is survived by his brothers, Tom Hom and Herb Hom, sisters, Margaret Sekishiro,
and Beatrice Wilson, and his children, daughters, Berta Hom and Frances Worley, son,
Michael Hom, step-daughter, Maria (Cookie) Baptista, step-children, Luis Gonzalez, and
Clara Maria Tamayo, and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
We celebrate his life and find comfort in knowing he is now in heaven with our Lord,
Jesus Christ. He will be missed.
