Albert "Beto" Torres' Obituary
Albert TorresCan it be 31 years married to this man? Yes. What an amazing man, an incredible husband, a father who loved his children deeply, a man who was devoted to his sister, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and adored his great-granddaughter. Seeing all of the family come to his side as he traveled through his soul- transition to heaven was a tribute to the love he had given them and a special love they all gave back to him to help him pass in peace.Al was a tall, large man. “Big Al” suited him. To small children he made an incredible impact as an ominous figure. He wanted to care for them all, direct them through life, and make sure they were on the right road for their successful happiness. His strength of character demanded respect and his heart was a melting teddy bear. Al and I were “second marriages” and blended his two children with my four. In his heart, you would have never known my children were not his blood children….he often forgot they were not his blood children-they were always his “boys and daughter.”Al was a proud man. He loved the reality that he was a veteran of the Army and very glad he had served his country, just as his uncles had. He was highly responsible. Enjoyed the career as a barber in his early years and then climbed the ranks in the electronic field as a Production Manager. He loved being an entrepreneur and dabbled in owning a wood carvers art store, Internet product sales, and other ways and means to express his interests in being a business owner. One of his greatest jobs was to work for me, his wife, as bookkeeper, Production Manger, and Chief Financial Officer. He helped build my business to its success as well.Born under the sign of Sagittarius, Al delighted in one area of the Sagittarian nature…he loved to gamble. He was an incredible winner at slot machines and Black Jack. The last several years he delighted in playing On-Line Poker. Over the years he won jackpots from as little as a few dollars to as much as $5,000. Sam’s Towne in Las Vegas, you will miss him. He and his sister Rachel often shared a lunch and a day at Barona’s, as well as heading off to Las Vegas. Though not my greatest enjoyment, I spent many mini-vacations traveling to Las Vegas and watching him win when my penny slots were only eating my every dollar. Al loved cars and every car he had he did something special to enhance their looks. Flames? Yes! “Twice Pipes,” of course. Roaring his Mustang through the neighborhood and strutting his ride while he “cruised the strip” often bought out the puffed chest, a grin to his face, and created his roaming eye to make sure everyone took a look at his “ride.”This amazing man was a “miracle” walking. This lifetime gifted him a strong body in his youth, but an ill-challenged body in his adulthood. He pulled through many life-defying events over the last 25 years. Two major heart surgeries and other surgeries were endured over the years. Complications wrecked havoc to his kidneys. His faith and the prayers of others always kept him alive. In 1998 a doctor predicted he would not live another year. His fighting spirit said, “watch me,” and eleven years later we danced at the silliness of the prediction. Even in his last few weeks, giving way to Pancreatic Cancer, he was determined to live. On December 2, 2009 at Sunset, he let go to the Great Creator and soared into the arms of Source. It was time, and we as a family, glad to honor his need to rest in peace, praised his strength and determination to remain on Earth as we said farewell to a very loving man. Jesus, the Holy Mother and his Earth Mother gladly helped him cross the veil and enter a new life of ease.I will miss my “Rock” and this man who adored me. I will miss the way he kept everything going for me. I will miss the sharing of his love for his family and extended family. I will miss his “everything.” I am honored to have shared life with him and honored that you have as well. -In Loving Memory, His wife, Katherine
