Alberto Serna Ponce's Obituary
Alberto S. Ponce was born in Jalisco, Mexico on August 7, 1927 to Martin Ponce and Prisca Serna. He was the oldest of seven children that included five brothers and one sister. As a young man the family moved to Tecate, Baja California, Mexico where he met his wife, Margarita E. Ponce.
With a bold tenacity and enormous courage, the newlyweds migrated to the United States. They started their U.S. journey as farm workers in the 1950’s in Northern California, then as domestic workers in San Diego, CA. Always meeting a challenge head on, Alberto started working in construction shortly after moving to San Diego. After years of hard work, the couple purchased their first home in National City, CA, an accomplishment Alberto was very proud of.
Alberto and Margarita lived in National City for close to seven decades, raised two children and were married 57 years. Alberto loved gardening and watching baseball. He was a huge San Diego Padres fan and enjoyed their 2022 playoff run.
Alberto is survived by his daughter, son, two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren.
