Alexander Andrew Love “(Alex “Smiley”) was born February 2, 1952 in San Diego, California. He was the first of six children of John and Fannie B. Love. He attended Frontier and Chollas Elementary Schools, Gompers Jr. High, and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1969. Alex and Sam Stewart were acknowledged under Senior Ideals as “Best Dressed.” After graduation, Alex held many jobs throughout the years. His last employment was with the non-profit organization Alpha Project; he retired due to health reasons.Alex married Geri Stephens on July 7, 2004. Alex “Smiley” was a lover of classic Jazz, a spiritual man who prayed and studied God’s word.Alex passed away July 9, 2012. Alex was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers Leonard and Charles Love.He is survived by his wife Geri Love, three sons, Alex, Alonzo and Aaron Love, one daughter, Aiesha Love, three sisters, Fannie J., Cheryl, and Joyce Love, nine grandchildren, cousins, other relatives and friends.Alex will be laid to rest at Greenwood Memorial Park 4300 Imperial Avenue., San Diego, California 92113.
