Allen E. Hom's Obituary
Allen Ernest Hom, born on October 20, 1924 peacefully passed away on December 4, 2014 in Orange County, California. Born and raised in San Diego, Allen attended Sherman Elementary School, Memorial Jr. High School and San Diego High School. He earned the rank of Sergeant in the United States Army during WWII. After graduating from the University of California, San Francisco Dental School, Allen led a successful orthodontic practice in Downey, California. As a life long learner, he also earned a law degree, traveled the world extensively and especially enjoyed music. He was a strong supporter of education, arts and culture, and the Chinese Community Church in San Diego. In later years as a successful businessman, he served on several corporate and bank boards. He cared deeply for his large family spanning three generations and always took a personal interest in each member’s life. Allen’s life will be celebrated in San Diego at a service held on Friday, December 26, 2014 at Greenwood Memorial Park, Garden Chapel at 2pm. Allen joins his predeceased brothers George and Paul. He is survived by brothers James, Tom, Wellman, Herbert, Albert and John; sisters Helen, Margaret and Beatrice.In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Dr. Allen E.
