Alma Lue Ford's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Alma Lue Ford
January 23, 1930 – June 14, 2026
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want... Surely goodness and
mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the
house of the Lord forever."
— Psalm 23
Alma Lue Ford peacefully entered eternal rest on June 14, 2026,
leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and service. Born in Dallas,
Texas, she made San Diego her home after moving to California in
1948 and spent many dedicated years working at the Navy Exchange
on North Island before retiring.
A faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church, Alma devoted her life
to serving others. She volunteered with numerous organizations,
including Feeding America, the San Diego Food Bank, the Red Cross,
and the Cancer Society. Her greatest joy was opening her home and
heart to more than 25 foster boys, welcoming each with love,
guidance, and a sense of belonging.
Her spirit of service extended through her leadership in Prince Hall affiliated organizations, including Ruth Chapter No. 11, Order of the
Eastern Star, the Daughters of Isis, and the Heroines of Jericho.
Rooted in the promises of the 23rd Psalm, Alma lived with humility,
courage, and a servant's heart.
Above all, Alma loved her family. She was blessed to witness five
generations and leaves behind a beautiful legacy through her
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Those who knew Alma will remember her deep faith, generous heart,
and joyful spirit. We also like to think that in Heaven, the "gambling
hole" is always open and the luck never runs out. With her sharp eye
and bright smile, she has surely hit the biggest jackpot of all.
Her life was a testament to faith, family, and the belief that there was
always room for one more person at the table and one more child to
love.
"Well done, thou good and faithful servant… enter thou into the joy of
thy Lord."
— Matthew 25:21
