Amalia Cruz Flores' Obituary
Amalia, Molly, Mom, Grandma, was born in Brawley, Calif. on July 2, 1926. The Lord took her unexpectedly, but peacefully on Mon. August 2016. Amalia was the fourth of 12 children, born to Mama Yoya and Aristeo Murrillo. They were a very close, hard working, migrant farm working family. They traveled throughout California, wherever there was fruit or vegetables to be harvested. Amalia was proud to say she always picked more than anyone else. Greg and Amalia marked their 62nd wedding anniversary on July 4th, 2016. They moved their family from the valley to San Diego in 1954. They are the parents of five sons, Andres, Jesse, Gregory, Alex, George, and four daughters, Ana, Irene, Charlotte, and Sarah. They have 26 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and with a great, great granddaughter expected in Sept. Mom was a “stay at home” mom before this phrase was ever used. In her kitchen, she cooked the most delicious meals, and we all had our favorites, which included pot roast, lengua with gravy, and arroz con leche. Mom lovingly shaped our characters with her unconditional love, support, and encouragement. We will fondly remember her humor, her contagious laughter, and all her funny stories. Mom was a great woman of Faith and Prayer. Every morning and throughout the day she would pray and lift up the needs of her many loved ones and her friends. She often said that she wondered if the Lord was tired of her persistent prayers and requests.Amalia, Mom, Grandma, is alive in Heaven! She will forever be in our hearts, and we will miss her until we see her again.
