Andrea Herrera's Obituary
Andrea Concepcion Herrera; lovingly called Conchis or Conchita by her family. Passed away peacefully at the age of 99 years old in the comfort of her home in San Diego, California during the late afternoon of Wednesday August 6, 2025. Andrea was born on February 4,1926 in San Bernardino, California to her parents Manuel Panigua and Cecilia Cruz. She had a very large family and was one of nine children. As a young teen she worked at a butcher shop and helped her older sister sew and tailor clothing at her store.
In 1952 at the age of 26 years old she married the love of her life Cesar R. Rubio in a beautiful Catholic mass in Tijuana, Mexico. They were blessed with three children of their own Cesar, Cristina, and Javier. Andrea and her husband worked together at Ratner Clothing Company in downtown San Diego for many years. Sadly Andrea's husband passed in June of 1985 from cancer. They were married for thirty three wonderful years. Andrea was a generous woman who always put others' needs first. She loved to joke and make people laugh. She was a devoted Catholic woman of faith. She had many hobbies such as dress making, gardening, cooking for her family, and traveling with friends in a senior church group.
She is survived by her children Cesar (Lourdes), Cristina (Enoc),and Javier. Her grandchildren Margarita, Javier, Adriana, and Lourdes. Preceded in death by her husband Cesar R. Herrera, daughter in law Lourdes, parents Manuel and Cecilia, and seven siblings. The funeral and celebration of life will be held on Friday August 29 at 11 am at Greenwood Memorial Park and Mortuary in San Diego. If planning to attend, the family asks to wear bright colors to celebrate Andrea's life.
