Ann Patricia Oxford's Obituary
Born on June 9, 1929 in Avoca, PA, Ann and her twin brother were the last of the 13th children of Kathleen and Harry Hadley. After graduating High School Ann attended beauty school and went on to practice hairdressing and worked in local mills. At 22, she married Edward Oxford and began her life traveling the country as a Navy wife and mother. She finally settled into her first and only home in Chula Vista with her husband and 5 young children in 1961. Ann and Ed were active members of their church (St. Rose of Lima) and the local Elks Lodge. In addition to working in retail and the YMCA, she volunteered her time at the thrift shop of Sharp Hospital. “Annie” as her friends called her, was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker, neighbor, and gardener. Her home was always prepared to welcome family, friends, and neighbors. She prioritized the feeding, comfort, and her special brand of encouragement to all that came. As one of the first in her neighborhood she was well-known, generous, and a reliable resource to adults and children alike. As a military wife, Ann was called on to do more than most; she did so willingly, proudly, and with great flair. She is the last of her siblings, but her spirit will always be present in her surviving children, Kathaleen, Edward, Mary, Timothy, and James. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Jenessa, Jayme, Bridget, Justin, Jonathan, and great-grandchildren, Connor, Kaylin, Eddie, and Athena. Visitation will be held in the Salli Lynn Chapel of Greenwood Mortuary on Tuesday, May 30th, from 5-9pm. Service will be held in the same place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 31st.
