Molly Shor
From Joan B. Shor's unpublished autobiography. She was Anne's Wellesley College classmate: "Two girls from Reading MA (Anne Plachta and Gloria Shane) became special friends. Anne and I overlapped in several courses and ended up psych majors and roommates for three years. Between the two of them, I never was left on campus during Thanksgiving or Easter vacations. I visited Anne's home so often that her family called her brother's room "Richard and Joby's room". A lowly lieutenant JG, Richard, during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, was credited with putting his destroyer out to sea as the senior officer aboard, thus saving her from being sunk. Though we never occupied "our" room at the same time, it did startle his fiance to hear it so-called when she first visited his family." Molly Shor
