Antonia Ramirez Simo's Obituary
Antonia R. Simo was born on October 1st, 1930 in San Antonio, TX, where she lived until 1953. Her parents were Carolina and Ponciano Ramirez. She was the 3rd of 4 children. She attended Emerson Junior High School, Tech High School, St. Patrick’s High School and San Diego State University. She earned her Master’s in Nursing. After graduation, she began a career as a Registered Nurse at Point Loma Convalescent Hospital, Hillcrest Hospital, Chula Vista Hospital and lastly, at the Navy Hospital – Balboa for 36 years. She retired in 1994. After retirement she was involved in Alpha of San Diego, The San Diego Charges, Lions’ Club Optometric Clinic. She lived in Alpine and she was married to John Simo. She was a devoted Catholic and her special friends were Flo and Barbara. A few words to describe Antonia are: kindness, laughter, mirth, joy and endless love. Her most important events of her life were when she became an aunt and when she became a nurse. Her favorite hobbies were cooking, baking for the family, taking all the kids on bus and train adventures, and climbing trees. Antonia was survived by her beautiful family, her sister; Carolina R. Bertling, and many nieces and nephews.
