Antonio B. Duran's Obituary
Antonio B Duran was born in Tulare, California, on June 13th, 1937, to Ramon and Anita Duran. Antonio grew up on the famous Tagus Ranch. Tagus was a 7000-acre fruit ranch that also once served as a POW camp for WWII German soldiers between 1944 and 1946. He would tell stories of taking food to the German POWs in trade for them, teaching him German phrases. In 1956 he enlisted in the US Air Force and worked as a reciprocating engine mechanic in the 622nd Air Refueling Squadron. He met his wife while in the service. After being honorably discharged in 1960, they moved to San Diego, married, bought a house, and began their work to make it a home. A home of birthday celebrations, guitar lessons, backyard family cookouts, watching hummingbirds, playing catch, learning to ride bicycles, and watching fireworks after the Padre game. A place to keep his golf clubs safe and clean when they were not in use. A place where he showed us the value and results of a strong work ethic. A home where the heartwarming sounds of grandchildren playing were commonplace.
On August 11th, 2022, at 12:42 pm, Antonio passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by family.
