Arma B. Thomas' Obituary
We will celebrate the life of Arma B. Thomas born February 5, 1930 in Tyler, Texas to Jim & Ethel Williams.She was one of eleven children raised in a God fearing and loving home.She received her formal education in Tyler, Texas and was a graduate of Jackson High School.Arma accepted Christ at an early age and for many years was a member of Church of the Loving GOD, in San Diego, CA.In 1948 she met her first husband, Roger Cross (deceased). Their union was blessed with one son, James Robert Cross (deceased).She moved to San Diego, CA in the late 50’s and joined Bethel Baptist Church and met her second husband, Reese Thomas (deceased). Arma’s lifelong passion and profession was cooking some of the greatest tasting food ever. Arma’s favorite holiday was Thanksgiving in which she treasured having family and friends over to celebrate. Arma will forever be remembered for cooking some of the best food on Thanksgiving day, which including all the trimmings – Turkey & Cornbread dressing, Peach Cobbler, German Chocolate cake, Pecan Pie, Sweet potato pies, Pound Cake and so much more.She worked at Joey’s Cafeteria which was located on 32nd Street Naval Base for over 20 years & eventually retired in 2007 working with her friend Chuck Wion at the Souper Bowl & Catering.Arma quietly and tenderly was called home to be with our Heavenly Father on Saturday December 22, 2018 in her home.She is preceded in death by her only son James Robert Cross and 5 siblings Eva Mae Jackson, Odessa Warren, Corinne Timmons, Thelma “Bubba” Williams, Tommie Williams. Her surviving family include her 3 Grandchildren Tamela M. Cross, Roshan S. Cross, Johnnie L. James II and 4 Great-Grandchildren Taurus James Myles-Hendricks, Roshan Cross Jr., Ahneya Cross, and Shyann Cross, her siblings Millie Houston (Texas), Jimmy Williams (Texas), Welton Williams (Texas), Margene Williams (San Dimas, CA), and Carl Williams (Kansas), daughter-n-law Gloria James and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues. “Gone but not forgotten, the memory of you will always be in our hearts”Services: Celebration of life for Arma B.
