Arthur Green II's Obituary
Arthur Green II was born in Hamtramck, Michigan on February 23, 1953, to the union of Arthur Green and Dorothy Annette Green. He was the eldest child of five.
Arthur attended the Detroit Public Schools System where he was one of the first black students bused to Osborne High School in support of desegregating schools in America. He was a stellar scholar and all-around athlete, graduating with high honors and receiving notable awards and academic scholarships. Arthur attended Wayne State University and continued playing basketball. In 1972, Arthur went to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. He received many awards and recognition for his service and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant.
At an early age Arthur began swimming and loved to do so in the ocean. In 1979 he relocated to California where he pursued his career in computer technology with IBM and expanded his family. As an active member in his community in Moreno Valley, California, Arthur served as an athletic coach and mentor for youth and young adults. Later in his life, he relocated to Chula Vista, California where he served as a youth counselor for the San Diego Job Corps and served for nearly 20 years.
Arthur was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all who knew and loved him.
Arthur was called home on March 3, 2021 where he is now at peace and reunited with his loved ones. He leaves to cherish and celebrate his life, his 4 children: Arthur Green III of Texas, Joseph Green, Michelle Green, Nicole Logan and her husband James Logan II of California; 4 grandchildren: Daechelle Green, Daelynne Green, Jazzy Sanders and Joseph Green Jr.; 4 sisters: Caron Green who preceded him, Denise Green of Washington DC, Janisse Green of Michigan and Lynne Green of California and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and his partner Debra Bell. Now that you are in good hands, you can rest. You will be deeply missed, but you will always remain in our hearts.
