Ashok Kumar Sethi's Obituary
Ashok Kumar Sethi, 81, of Carlsbad, California
Ashok was a self-made man who valued education, loved being an entrepreneur, and always put family first. He was born in British India in 1940. He immigrated to the United States from India in 1965 to attend Graduate School at the University of Arkansas. After graduation he moved to the Midwest, he became a U.S. citizen in 1973, and settled down in Noblesville, Indiana in 1977 where he and his wife Meena raised their two children. Ashok and Meena moved to San Diego in 1998 to “retire.”
Ashok was a positive man who believed anything was possible with hard work. He never retired and was planning for the future of his companies until he passed peacefully on Thursday evening. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed playing bridge (becoming a Bronze Life Master), tending to his fruit trees, and spending time with family and friends.
Ashok is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Meena, his son Jason Sethi and daughter-in-law Rachel Sethi, his daughter Rayna Herman and son-in-law Chris Herman and three grandsons he adored: Blake, Kevin, and Nolan. He is also survived by his brothers Krishan and Rajeev, and his sister Rita Mutreja and their families.
The funeral will be held on Monday, January 31 at 12pm at Greenwood Memorial in San Diego. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Tuesday, February 1 from 3pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Diabetes Society in Ashok’s honor.
