Asuncion R Klatt's Obituary
Klatt, Asuncion Rebay (Cora) - With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Asuncion Rebay Klatt (Cora), our loving and devoted grandmother, mother, wife, and friend to all whose lives she touched, on June 29, 2023. She passed away while sleeping peacefully at her home in San Diego, California, following a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 77 years old.
Born September 15, 1945, in North Samar, Philippines, the sixth of seven children, to Balbino and Alfonsa Rebay. Cora met her husband, Donald James Klatt, who was serving in the Philippines while enlisted in the United States Navy. They married April 22, 1966 and embarked on a 57-year journey together, during which they resided in the Philippines, Long Beach (California), Vallejo (California), Owatonna (Minnesota), finally settling in San Diego during the Fall of 1974.
A devoted homemaker, Cora loved to garden, sew, crochet, entertain friends and family, sing karaoke, take daily walks, and enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino. Most of all she loved her family and friends and displayed this with warmth and kindness to everyone in her life. Her sense of humor and caring heart will be deeply missed by her family and all of those who knew her.
Cora is survived by her husband, Donald, their three sons Paul, Michael and Jon, daughters-in law Barbara and Kea, her sister Julia, her brother Mamerto, and her cherished grandsons Atticus, Emery, and Cadence.
A visitation will be held Friday, July 28th, 2023 from 5:00-9:00 pm at the Garden Chapel located at Greenwood Memorial Park & Mortuary, 4300 Imperial Ave, San Diego, CA 92113. Services will be held Saturday, July 29th, 2023 at 11:00 am, at the same location.
