Gus enlisted in Army Air Force on August 28, 1943 in Lincoln, Nebraska
Service to his country: Army Air Force - Aviation Cadet
He learned to fly. He Spent his last year in the Air Force traveling to twenty-six air force bases as a representative of the Air Force Communication Systems, bringing pilots up to date on the use of the new systems used by the Air Force.
His first years in San Diego, he and his wife owned a small market on El Cajon Blvd. called Gus's Market. He later sold the market and went to work for General Dynamics. With the help of his Army Air Force training he became a customer engineer, working with microfilm and data collection. He worked for General Dynamics for 26 years before retiring.
