Aurelia Countess Brown, 93Proud Texan and longtime resident of La Jolla, California Aurelia Brown died Monday December 8, 2014.A gathering to celebrate her life will be held in January 2015 on a date yet to be determined. At her request, no funeral service will be held.Aurelia was born October 1, 1921 in Belton, Texas. Her mother Emily Warley Countess was homemaker and college graduate and her father Clem C. Countess was a lawyer. One of Aurelia’s earliest jobs was working in her father’s law office. She attended Baylor University.She was happily married to Leon D. (“Bink”) Brown for 60 years before his death in 2002. They married in La Jolla, California and remained there throughout most of their life together.Family, travel, painting, gardening, sewing and swimming her among her many interests. Aurelia was active in her community both as a volunteer at Ark Antiques raising money for animal charities and humane causes and at her church St. James by the Sea and as a member of numerous civic/charitable organizations such as the Lamplighters, Neptunes, Kiwanis (together with husband Bink) and the Experimental Aircraft Association (together with Bink).Mrs. Brown is survived by her two sons Paul D. Brown (Lynn) of Ventura, California and Roger W. Brown (Lisa) of San Pedro, California; her two granddaughters Kristine E. Brown of New York, NY and Laura A. Brown of Denver, Colorado. Aurelia is also survived by her two sisters Emily Countess Means of Texas and Colleen Countess Hurst of New York.Clem C.
