What a beautiful tribute Alda! Mom loved you and while going through her old pictures, I can see why-you both were always laughing together. I can't wait to see the plague in memory of my Mom and the beautiful camelias growing around it. What an appropriate spot for it:) I know she is looking down and watching over us and I already have had a few things that have happened to me since she passed that proves it. I, too, think of her every day and miss her deeply. Hopefully we all can get together soon and share our Memories of her. My Sister and I would love that! Take care xoxoxo
My dear dear friend, I can't put into words how much I will miss you. We had so many memories….all wonderful, meaningful and fun! I remember when I first met you at GD. We didn't go back 35 years cause I was a newby in the early 1980's but for some reason we hit it off immediately. You were to me one of the most beautiful and intelligent women at GD. An example of a woman that could make it via smarts and hard work in a man's world. You kept saying how much you respected me but truly Barb……I had nothing compared to you. No matter how dark it got on the political side of things at work you kept your friends in great spirits and was able to laugh and see the bright side of the most dire of situations. I loved spending time in your office and that of Jerry Stenovec….we could laugh, cry and support each other through all the crap that was going on! It was that work relationship that moved us to continue to be friends away from work….we didn't live close to each other but we always stayed in touch…..and I will never forget or thank you and Bob enough for all the hard work you helped me with in Italy. Our wood fence will now have a memory plaque on it and also the Camelia plants that are now bushes, that you and Bob helped plant, will bare your names. I will also dedicate a Camellia plant to you at the Camelleto (Camellia park) in our village of Sant' Andrea di Compito in Tuscany……I will plan a special dedication so Bob, Karen and Bev and Brooke can attend. But the times I will miss you the most is our traditional meeting dates…twice a year like clockwork…..First Sunday in May and First Sunday in November for our Carlsbad Street Fair…..it will never be the same without you dear dear friend. I miss you already…..I miss your Smile, your voice, your laugh….and telling me to stop biting my nails and lose weight….dear friend good bye for now….but hopefully you will look out for us down here……..start planning our party for when we all arrive…..I know that is why God took you from us…..he needed your skills to planning the best parties ever. I love you dear dear friend. Your memory will always be alive in your kids and grandkids but also in your friends…..you have touched so many….I am blessed to be one! Alda
Bev & Family, I am sorry to hear of the loss of your beautiful Mom. My heart goes out to all of you at this time. Always so hard to lose those we treasure the most. Your Mom sounded like she was "one special lady." She will live on in all of you. Sending love & prayers.
Bev and Family, Although I never knew your beautiful mother, I can see by the lovely comments that you are much like her – "dazzling smile – and always welcoming and hospitable". She was "loved by all" – just like you ! She will always remain very much alive in the memories of those who loved, respected, and treasured her. With heartfelt sympathy, Nancy Gordon
Lillian, Thanks for sharing your wonderful memories of Mom.She always referred to you as Lil. There were so many wonderful ladies from GD and you all were like sisters rather than co-workers. That was a very special time and Mom would fondly reminisce about those days. Thanks for always being such a great friend! All the Best to you and your family.
Steve, Thank you for the kind words about Mom. She was very fond of you too! She was One-Of-A Kind-a 5'2" dynamo with sparking blue eyes and beautiful smile. We all miss her so much.
Steve thank you so much for the nice words about my Mom she really liked you so much! We were going through her stuff and I found a birthday card that you gave her years ago ?? She even kept the envelope with your great drawings on it! you were always her favorite!! Karen
My shock and heartfelt condolences to Bob, Bev and Karen. Barbara, my dear friend since 1956. Our time together at General Dynamics spanned over 35 years and, at times, sharing space together at the L.F. and K.M. facilities. We both have 2 daughters and shared our experiences about raising them. Now we have grandchildren and great-grandchildren, although Barb outnumbered me with grandchildren. We took tennis lessons together and my first trip overseas was with Barb to Switzerland. As we grew older and Barb moved to RB. We kept up our friendship through the years by frequently meeting for lunch. In an ongoing repartee, Barb never let me forget that she was one year younger than me! Barb was a wonderful friend and I will miss her dearly. Lillian Truex
To one of my FAVORITE "Moms" EVER ! Loved watching the "Glen Campbell Show" with ya on TV….and your sincere help in wanting to get me a job at your company ! You were SUCH a delight….great sense of humor…wonderful and DAZZLING SMILE….always so welcoming and hospitable. I only wish I could have known you over the years more….but the time I did share with you, was AWESOME and SO MUCH FUN ! Thanks ever so much, "Ms. Freeman"…. ?? Steve Guthrie
