Belén M. Munoz's Obituary
Belén Mayon Muñoz was born on July 30, 1924, to Carmen Granillo Mayon and Espiridion Mayon, in Sonora, Arizona, a small copper mining town named after the state of Sonora, México. Belen is preceded in death by her parents, her older brother Jesus Mayon and younger sister, Margarita Mayon.During Belén’s childhood her parents moved to Somerton, Arizona, where Belen’s father became the pastor of the Apostolic Church in Somerton. At the age of 12 years Belen was baptized in Jesus Name and received the gift of the Holy Ghost. In 1939, Belén met her future husband to be who would become the “love and inspiration of her life,” Francisco R. Muñoz, who Belen’s father, baptized in Jesus Name in the Somerton Apostolic Church. At this time, Francisco was a Pentecostal Trinitarian minister who God had revealed the Oneness of Jesus Christ and the baptism in Jesus Name. Belén and Francisco fell deeply in love and were married on April 7, 1940 in Somerton, Arizona. God gave them three daughters Martha, Mary Ann, Ruth and a son, Francisco Lázaro, who went to be with our Lord Jesus at the age of 2–1/2 years in 1952. In 1941, a year after Belen’s and Francisco’s marriage, Francisco was ordained as a minister in the Apostolic Assembly Church. At the start of Francisco’s ministry Belén was only 16 years old. Despite her young age, Belén was always a loving, faithful dedicated and loyal wife, and mother, always there to help and support her husband’s ministry, as a pianist, singer, pastor and evangelist’s wife and with her many prayers.Francisco always financially sustained his ministry with his lathing and plastering company from 1945 until he retired in1968 in which Belen also helped and assisted him as his secretary and bookkeeper.62 YEARS OF PREACHING THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST, AT THE SIDE OF HER BELOVED HUSBAND: Rev. Francisco R. Muñoz, who was a pioneer in establishing churches mostly in San Diego County with Belen always at Francisco’s side, established Apostolic churches in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Tucson, Arizona, restarted the Otay Apostolic Church (Chula Vista, CA), established the first Apostolic Church in San Diego on Kearney Avenue, first Apostolic Churches in Lemon Grove, La Jolla and Spring Valley, established the first Encanto Apostolic Church on Imperial Avenue, San Diego. They traveled together in their motor home throughout the United States as National Evangelist for the Apostolic Assembly Home Missions assisting and holding revivals for growth in home mission churches. Francisco and Belen also traveled and worked together in Foreign Missions as a Missionary Evangelist in several countries in South America: Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile and established the first Apostolic Church in Quarai, Brazil, South America. Also, were Missionary Evangelist in Spain and Puerto Rico and in the Caribbean Islands, the Dominican Republic and Haiti.Belen cherished and loved her husband Francisco and they were happily married for 62 years and were able to renew their wedding vows on their 50th Wedding Anniversary and were always together doing God’s work in their passion to reach souls for Jesus Christ through Francisco’s ministry as a pastor and evangelist, until Francisco went to rest in the Lord on May 9, 2002.Belen felt blessed and loved her three daughters, eight (8) grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Belen’s most happiest moments were with her family and cherished the time she spent with them. She loved sharing Francisco’s and their ministry and sharing her many picture albums she made, to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great–great grandchildren and sharing and telling them of their father and their Tata and her experiences they went through from their youth until their senior years preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and the beautiful Christian legacy that God has given and has passed on to them. Belen always told them to love God with all your heart and to serve Him and they would live a happy and fulfilled life as she and their father and Tata had!In September 2011 she went to live with her daughter Ruth and her husband David to care for her with help from her daughter Martha, grandchildren Max and Patty, who all lovingly and compassionately cared for her. On May 9, 2012, because of Belen’s deteriorated health and 24/7 professional healthcare she required she was moved to Alta View Manor, a residential care home, where she was taken care of with much love until the Lord took her peacefully home to be with Francisco “Mi Amor” on Monday, January 7, 2013.
