Benjamin F Mitchell Jr's Obituary
Benjamin F Mitchell, Jr was born on May 8, 1950 in Norfolk, VA to his parents Benjamin Franklin Mitchell, Sr and Sarah Louise Gary who both precede him in death. At an early age his father was active in the Navy & was a part of WWII, Korea & Vietnam. They traveled to different states often while his father was active in the military. Benjamin has three sisters, Shirley Mitchell, Glenda Mitchell & phoebe Taylor. Phoebe Taylor & Glenda Mitchell, both precede him in death. He also has a brother Steven Mitchell. He & his family relocated to San Diego in 1964 & He graduated from Morse high school in 1968. He then was in the job Corp after high school & then worked for Pacific Bell. He then Met Gwendolyn F. Darby & they were married & out of that union they had a Son Rashad J Mitchell.
After marriage to Gwendolyn, he then began his main career at the community college district in the 1970’s before retiring in 2005 from the community college district as a custodial supervisor, he then worked for the San Diego job Corp center for several years before officially retiring from the work force in 2008. Later in his life Benjamin married another lovely lady named Teresa Mitcham who precedes him in death.
Benjamin F Mitchell, Jr became a dedicated active member of the Church of Christ- 69th St in San Diego, Ca & enjoyed anything he could do in the church & for the church such as help driving the van to pick up church members, participating in many church functions, giving back to the church, helping out with church cleaning & presentation & assisting the minister with anything that he could. Once he relocated from San Diego, Ca to San Jacinto, Ca (riverside county) in 2020 he then continued to attend church in his new homes area while driving down to the Church of Christ- 69th St in San Diego, Ca at least once a month for as long as he could. He also enjoyed spending time with family & In his spare time He enjoyed playing & slamming dominoes on the table with his friends in the garage, barbecuing at home, hand washing his cars, taking road trips, eating at sizzler & he loved Seafood & riding his bicycle, watching NFL games, the LA Lakers & the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment).
Benjamin F Mitchell, Jr Went home to heaven on April 26, 2025. He leaves to cherish his memory his son Rashad J Mitchell, his sister Shirley Mitchell & his brother Steven Mitchell, & many wonderful nieces, nephews, extended family members & friends that appreciated & loved him for who he was.
