Bernice Forsberg's Obituary
On August 20, 1930, Bernice Lopez Forsberg was born. She lived with her parents, Tony C. Lopez and Maria Nunez Lopez, and her siblings Eugene, Tony, and Alicia in the town of Descanso, within the mountain empire area of San Diego, California. In 1967, Bernice earned her General Education Diploma from Lincoln Adult High School. She Married Sonny Forsberg in 1948, but later they were divorced. Bernice had eight children Terry, Ramona, Sonya, Dennis, Mary, Bessie, Fred, and Timothy. She had 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. She loved all 4 of her sons-in-law, Kevin, Danny, Scott, and Alfred, and her beautiful daughter-in-law Teresa. Bernice was very proud of her family, including all her nieces, nephews, and cousins. She worked hard to make sure each of them knew as long as she could. A homemaker most of her life, she became a senior aid worker in her late 60s. She began working at the Department of public health as an information clerk in her late 70s, eventually working at the county administration building downtown until she turned 80. It was in 2008 when she began showing signs of Alzheimer’s-dementia. She lived the rest of her years with her youngest daughter Bessie’s family, and died at their home at 92 years on April 1, 2023, peacefully, loved, and cherished. Her daughter Ramona Coleman preceded her in death in 2019, and her youngest son Timothy Ellis in 2020. Descriptions that came to mind considering Bernice were words like Patient, Kind, Love, and Strength. A firm believer in the bond of family and strong faith, she instilled sayings such as “God’s testing, it’s just a test” and “What goes around comes around” that will be passed on over years to come. I came across a quote by author Terry Pratchett stating, “No one is dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away.” Everyone here is a ripple of Bernice, regardless of her relation to you. We may have lost her physically, but as long as we keep her in our minds and in our hearts her memory will live on.
