LAMBRON, BESSIE's Obituary
Bessie Poledor Lambron, beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother,
sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2025, at the age of 95.
Born on July 25, 1929, in South Bend, Indiana, to Pendel and Yiota Poledor, Bess was a proud firstgeneration Greek American. Her parents and uncles established the Philadelphia Fine Candies
conglomerate. She graduated from Randolph-Macon Women’s College with a BS degree in
Chemistry and, in 1953, married the love of her life, Theodore Gregory Lambron. Together, they
built a beautiful life centered on family, hospitality, and generosity. She and Ted founded Helix
Real Estate Investment Trust and other companies using the Helix moniker.
Bessie is survived by her children: Gregory T. Lambron; Nancy A. Lambron Taylor (Christopher
Taylor); Mary E. Lambron; and Georgia A. Lambron (Tim Abell). She was a cherished grandmother to
Theodore J. Mumford, Tess A. Bell (Sean Cohen), Maxwell J. Bell, Alexandra M. Mumford, Andrew R.
Hargreaves (Joanna) and a proud great-grandmother to Olivia Bell Cohen, Stella B. and Henry A.
Hargreaves. She is survived by nieces and nephews Peter Corolis (Christine), Andrew Corolis
(Kristine), Alex Manikas, Arthur Balourdas (Gina) and Gregory Balourdas (Karen) and their families.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Lambron; her brother, Andrew Poledor; her
brother, Theodore Poledor; and her sister, Virginia Corlis, her niece Denise Manikas and nephew
Gary Corolis.
A true philanthropist, Bessie was known for her warmth, hospitality, and deep love for her family
and community. She was a long time member and President of many local charities and events
over the years. She was an extraordinary chef and hostess, delighting others with her cooking and
baking. Known for her regular weekly festive entertaining at the family’s ‘Lakeside Ranch’ and at
her home. From intimate gatherings to hundreds of guests including heads of state, politicians,
ambassadors, medical award winners, renowned scientists, award winning actors and artists,
charities, neighbors and friends, she never tired. Her passion for gardening, her artistic spirit, and
her joyful, childlike heart brought light to all who knew her.
Bessie’s legacy of love, generosity, and creativity will live on in the hearts of those who were
fortunate to know her.
A private family funeral and interment are per Bessie’s wishes.
