Betty Lou Coats Loshonkohl's Obituary
Betty Lou Coats Loshonkohl, 81, passed away the evening of Saturday, November 26, 2022, in Gainesville, Florida.
Betty was born in San Diego, California, the eldest child of Ronald E. Coats and Juanita Schaal Coats. San Diego was the only place she called home, though in retirement she also resided in Gilbert, Arizona, to be near grandchildren, and later in Gainesville, Florida, to be near a daughter.
Betty graduated from Hoover High School (Class of ’59), after which she married Donald D. Loshonkohl, also a Hoover Cardinal. They raised their three children in Alpine, a small community east of San Diego, where Betty volunteered at the elementary school, was a member of Soroptimist International, supported the local Job’s Daughters Bethel, and was active within the Bobby Sox and Little League organizations.
She enjoyed games of all kinds, was a devoted mother and meal planner, and “cooked with love” for her family daily. Music was always present. In her youth, Betty was a member of an accordion marching band, so it was no surprise her favorite genre was marching band songs (and performances).
Betty is survived by her son, David Loshonkohl; two daughters, Ronda Loshonkohl and Dona Hufford; brother, Robert D. Coats; German sister, Heidi Dietrich; grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The family invites you to celebrate her life January 13th, 2023, at 11:00 AM, in the Salli Lynn Chapel of Greenwood Memorial Park and Mortuary (www.greenwoodmemorial.com). Interment will follow at the Sanctuary of Eternity Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (t2t.org) or other patriotic organizations
