Betty Lopez Puentes' Obituary
Betty “Ganee” Puentes, loving mother and grandmother, was born July 8, 1926 in San Diego, CA to Raquel and Manuel Lopez. She passed March 13, 2018 at the age of 91. Growing up, Betty helped take care of her siblings, Manuel Jr. and Alice. At her church she met her husband Silas. During WWII, Betty was one of the original “Rosie the Riveters” working at Consolidated. After the war, she devoted her life to raising her children, becoming famous for her homemade cooking and stitchery projects. Betty was always a ray of light; welcoming and warm to all. She lived a vibrant life and loved sharing stories of growing up in San Diego. Ganee will be missed dearly by her sister, Alice; her children, Deborah and Stephen (Luisa); her grandchildren, Marisa (Pat), Ryan, Christina (Adrian) and Samantha; her nieces and nephews; and Conchita and Memo. Viewing is March 21 from 4 to 8 pm and Memorial Service March 22 at 2pm both at Greenwood Memorial Park & Mortuary. To celebrate her life: wear festive attire. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to VFW Post #7420 Auxiliary or a charity of your choice in Betty Puentes’ name.
