Betty Jean Richmond's Obituary
Mrs. Betty Jean Richmond was born in Lambert, Mississippi on November 26, 1950 to Mr. Robert Richmond Sr., and Mrs. Katie Williams. Betty was involved in church at a young age as her father was a deacon there. At 7 years old she was baptized in the Shine Turner River. She was very active in church with her sister who they would sing as well as give speeches at Christmas and Easter. Her family lived on a farm and they had livestock. There were many times where her older sister was churning butter and Betty would love to take it and eat it and she got the nickname “Butter Jean”. She enjoyed playing softball, loved climbing trees and was always joker with her family and friends. She married Taylor Houston Sr. and to through this union they had 2 sons and moved around some but settled in California. Betty loved to cook and help others when needed. She was loving person and who made friends easily, and will be truly be missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kate Williams and Robert Richmond Sr., siblings Robert Richmond Jr, Willie Richmond Sr., Freddie Logan, Roger Richmond, Birtha Williams and Mattie Shaw. On December 13, 2017 Betty Jean Richmond was called home. She leaves behind to celebrate her memory: her children Troy (Janice) Richmond, Taylor (Gina) Houston; Sisters: Katie (Gary) Hudson, Jessie (Lacy) Walker, Ruby Phelps, Judy and Bertha Richmond; Grandchildren: Shanir, Taylor-Denise, Justin, Brittany, Jordan, Courtney, Rayna, Ashley, Troy Jr, and Thomas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
