Brenda Etoye Jackson's Obituary
Brenda Etoye Roberts was born on November 15, 1951, in San Diego, California, to the late Harrold Roberts Sr. and Mary Ann Hill. She was one of eight siblings. Brenda grew up in Southeast San Diego, attending Stockton Elementary School, Gompers Junior High School, and Lincoln High School. After graduating high school, Brenda attended City College and pursued real estate, which later contributed to her career as a Real Estate Investor and Property Manager. She also pursued education in finance, computers, and entrepreneurship.
At a young age, Brenda met the love of her life and soulmate, Carl Jackson (affectionately known as Tubby). Their story began as next-door neighbors and classmates. Brenda and Carl were married for 54 years, sharing nearly every aspect of their lives. Wherever Carl was, Brenda was sure to be by his side. Together, they enjoyed traveling, dining out, attending community events, and managing their properties. Their close connection was evident to all who knew them. Brenda and Carl married on May 21, 1971, and to this union, two sons, Andre and Marquise Jackson, were born.
Brenda had a remarkable 45-year career with the City of San Diego, working in every department. Her stories from her time at the City of San Diego were legendary and often shared with friends and family. Brenda ultimately retired from her dedicated years of service to pursue real estate and help care for her grandchildren, leaving behind a lasting legacy of commitment and excellence.
Brenda’s community involvement started early, serving as a Girl Scout and majorette for the Boys and Girls Club. You could never forget that big smile and her twirling the baton with pride. Her creativity flourished through sewing, crafts, and horticulture. Her products could often be found at local farmers’ markets. If you ever visited the Jackson home, you were likely to leave with her handcrafted pumpkins, collard greens, herbs, or plants. Brenda was a proud member of the Southwestern College Botanical Garden Club, where she loved to learn and share her knowledge with others. Brenda had a passion for dance, especially line dancing, and was honored to dance with notable instructors throughout San Diego. Her creativity extended to designing shirts for various line dancing groups throughout the community.
Brenda loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews—each relationship was unique and marked by special nicknames from her. Brenda was the heart of the family and social gatherings, always making sure to capture memories in photographs. She also cherished her friendships, many of which felt just like family to her.
Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Harrold Roberts Sr.; her mother, Mary Ann Hill; and her sister, Yvonne Beasley. She leaves to celebrate her life: her husband, Carl Jackson (Tubby); her siblings, Harrold Roberts Jr., Veronica Roberts, Harrold Ray Roberts (Baby Harrold), Debra Williams, Michael Roberts, and Toylene Stanley; her sons, Andre Jackson (Vulnavia) and Marquise Jackson; and her grandchildren, DeAndre Jackson (Minkah), Andre Jackson, Christopher Mitchell, Andra’Na Jackson, Markee Muttaqee (Malcolme), and DaVondre Jackson.
Brenda’s legacy also lives on through her eight great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, in-laws, and many dear friends.

Acknowledgements
The family of Brenda Jackson would like to sincerely thank you for the many comforting messages, calls, prayers, floral tributes, and other expressions of kindness shown during our time of bereavement. It is our prayer that God will richly bless you and your family.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”
John 14:1-4
