Brian Isaac Lester's Obituary
BRIAN ISAAC LESTER (Age 54) of Jamul, CA died on February 27, 2024. Brian was born in New York, NY and grew up in Washington, DC. He is survived by his son, Christopher Joseph Lester, mother, Inez Thomas Lester, his former wife, Genevieve Perez Ferrero, and brother and sister-in-law, Cameron and Hillary Lester of Dana Point, CA. His niece Charlotte Lester and nephew William Lester also survive him, as well as his extended family in Alabama. He is preceded in death by his father Robert Leon Lester.
Brian attended St. Albans School in Washington, DC where he graduated high school, and then Birmingham-Southern College where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in drama. He then moved to Angeles, CA and worked as a personal trainer while he established himself as a successful actor in network television and movies, including 13 years on the acclaimed TV show ER. After ER, Brian started a production company where he worked with writers and actors on screenplays for television and theater productions, and he also did improv and theater productions. He also worked for Eastwood Ranch Clothing Company as part of the production team.
Brian later moved to the San Diego Area to be close to his son, where he worked as a nurse assistant. Because of his exceptional care for his patients, Brian was asked to become a private nurse for a family for several years. He also became the primary caregiver to his mother, who moved to El Cajon, CA from Washington, DC several years ago.
Despite being divorced, Brian and his ex-wife Genevieve became a devoted co-parenting team and incredible friends to one another. Brian also became great friends with her husband Sean, and a second dad to their younger children, sharing carpool, homework and vacations together. He taught the children to fish and snowboard, among so many things, and he never missed a school event for any of them. He was the light in their lives.
Brian was a phenomenal cook and taught his son Christopher how to cook everything from gourmet dishes to their favorite BBQ. They would spend hours together cooking and baking his famous cheesecake pies for loved ones. Family and friends called them “Two Peas in a Pod.” Brian was happiest when he was with Christopher (whom he affectionately called his “Bear”) camping, fishing and walking with the dogs, as he was a huge animal lover and rescued many.
Brian also loved music and reading, and was beloved for his generosity, patience, intelligence and wit. He was a large personality who went out of his way to make those around him feel appreciated, encouraged and cared for. He will be dearly missed by many.
The family will be scheduling a memorial service.
