Carl C. Copher's Obituary
Carl Copher, born December 31, 1919 in Shamrock, Oklahoma passed away at home peacefully with family on December 7, 2014. Dad met Mom (Jan) in 1939 in Shawnee, OK and they eloped on August 8, 1940. Dad enjoyed working on cars and was an aircraft mechanic during WW II repairing turbo charged war planes. In 1947 Dad and Mom moved their family to San Diego where he opened his auto service business. Dad loved life, family and friends, making everyone feel welcome and at home. He was the first person friends and family called when anything needed fixing. He loved fishing, camping, gold mining, family gatherings and traveling in their motor home. In 1997 Dad and Mom moved to Escondido, CA to be closer to family during their retirement years. Dad was preceded in death by his parents; John Millard Copher and Ida Ethel Tucker, siblings; Pauline Stewart, Johnny, Berene Peabody, and Riley. He is survived by his sister, Joyce Woods, San Diego; brother-in-law, Ivan Stewart, Edmond, OK; sister-in-law Janice Copher, San Diego; his loving and beautiful wife of 74 years, Jan; their children, Carla Stickley (Art) Escondido, CA, Peggy Smith (Jim) Menifee, CA and Keith Copher (Marilyn) Nampa, ID; 6 grandchildren (Sheri Stickley-Smith, Steve Smith, Stan Smith, Sandi Cobb, Craig Copher and Chad Copher), 12 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Services will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park, 4300 Imperial Avenue, San Diego, on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 11: 00 a.m.
