Carla G. Quinonez's Obituary
Carla Quiñónez was born on December 13, 1940 in a city named La Gaita in Chihuahua to parents Pedro and Carlota. She was the younger of their two children. She later moved to the state of Sonora where she lived until the early 1960s. In Mexico, as a young woman, she attended vocational school and then continued her education after she arrived in the United States. Carla spent her youth in the North Park area and worked in the San Diego Unified School District for over 20 years. She was married to Crisoto Quiñónez, who passed away in 2008. She is survived by her three sons and five grandchildren. Carla was a parish member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in North Park.Carla loved her family and always put them above all else. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, crocheting, knitting, making puzzles and she was also an Olympic-class athlete with the chancla. Carla taught her sons what it meant to have integrity, compassion, loyalty, and most importantly what it meant to have endless, unconditional love. Her sons all went onto earn degrees, become successful professionals, and have loving families of their own.Carla was a blessing to everyone fortunate enough to have her in their life. We all agree, the best parts of us come from Carla. On the other hand, the worst parts of us probably came from a time when Carla either wasn’t looking or when she found enough serenity and compassion to refrain from smacking us.We will miss you Nana!
