Carlean Arnold's Obituary
Carlean Gaither was born on October 23, 1934, to the late John and Bernice Gaither, in Lewisville Arkansas. At an early age, Carlean accepted Christ and was baptized at Crossroad Baptist Church in Lewisville, Arkansas.
At the age of 10 the family relocated to San Diego, CA. Carlean attended Logan Elementary School, Memorial Jr. High, and graduated from San Diego High School in 1953. Carlean returned to school to attend college and obtain her BA in Business from National University in 1977.
Carlean united with Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she was active with the Youth Department, Youth Choir and Junior/Sr. Mission. Later she attended Bayview Baptist Church where she was one of the first instructors for the “You and Your Money” classes and a Sunday School Teacher.
Carlean loved to travel, if you were going somewhere exciting, she was going with you. She traveled to Mexico, the Caribbean, Greece, South Africa, Europe, Berlin, and she even travel to dip her foot in the Red Sea.
She was a life member of the National Council of Negro Women, San Diego Section, where she has served as President, Secretary and Treasurer. Carlean Co-Chaired the STEM Program, 2000 – 2014. She was also a member of the San Diego Chapter Red Hatters.
Early Saturday morning, April 6, 2024, our Lord called Carlean to her heavenly home to join her mother and father, grand-daughter Tayshavi Arnold.
Left behind to cherish her memories are her son – Gary Arnold (Venus), San Diego, CA, daughters - Karen Thorpe (Walter), San Diego, CA, Yolanda “LaRae” Wright (Moses), Spring Valley, CA. Grand Children – Keetra Arnold, Randolph Brice, Karlis Thorpe, Carla B, Alonzo Wright, and Myles Wright. Great-Grand Son – Khris Goodloe, Great-Grand Daughter – Kori Thorpe. Sister – Dessie Russell, Charlotte Hall, MD, Nieces – Stephanie Ann Russell, Charlotte Hall, MD, Rochelle Russell, Escondido, CA, and a host of cousins and friends.
