Carol Suzanne Fasching 's Obituary
On Monday, February 3, 2020, Carol Suzanne Fasching, loving wife, mother and grandmother, was called home to heaven at the age of 67, with her family by her side. Carol was born on March 3, 1952 at Coleman Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana to Carl Russell and Evelyn Ruth Berggren. On June 1, 1974, she married Paul Alan Fasching, the love of her life. They raised two daughters, Tanya Marie and Kristin Elyse. Carol received her Bachelor of Business Administration and graduated Summa Cum Laude. She worked in accounting until 1983 when she chose to stay home to raise her daughters.
Carol led with her heart and strong Christian faith. She believed in the good in people, and raised her children to be kind and compassionate with faith as their core. People were truly better for having known her. She was happiest being surrounded by family and close friends. And bears of course. Her love of bears goes back to her childhood and continued into her collection so intricate she had a “bear room”. But this passion channeled from her love of nature. She worked at a national forest before her university studies, and led her family to visit most of the national parks from the west coast to Colorado. She could name any plant or animal you pointed out along the way, because of her infamous photographic memory. She was also a perfectionist – she once received a B on a paper, and argued it back to an A. But it’s Carol’s optimism that helped her shine the brightest all the way to the end. She claimed it was the love and support around her that helped her stay strong and positive, but she attracted the love like a magnet and her faith was unwavering. In John 14:6 Jesus answered “I am the way and the truth and the life.” A life truly loved is a life truly lived.
Carol is survived by her husband, Paul; her daughters Tanya and Kristin; her son-in-laws Steven and Matt; her grandchildren Audrey (7), Taylor (3), Avelyn (3) and Chase (1); her sister, Arlene; and cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 10 o’clock in the Salli Lynn Chapel at Greenwood Memorial Park. Please consider spreading Carol’s kindness with a donation to Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego in her honor: give.rchsd.org/goto/Carol.
