My grandma was a force to be reckoned with. I saw her be both stern and strict but she could also be very loving, devoted, caring, and funny. She was a good cook and when she was making her tortillas de harina (or apple pie!) you knew it was going to be a good day!
Grandma was a fierce fighter throughout her life. She went through quite a bit of hardships and struggles but somehow always pushed through. I will always admire her strength and resilience. As most of you who knew her are aware, she struggled with arthritis for many years which caused her a great deal of pain. Despite this, she always did her best to not let it slow her down. As long as she was able, she would do whatever it took to get around. Thats why we lovingly referred to her as "The Terminator" sometimes. I was fortunate to be able to spend some of her final years in the same household and, while it was certainly challenging much of the time, I will always have those memories. Now that she's gone, I take comfort in knowing that she is no longer in pain and if there is a heaven, I hope that she is happily reunited with her kids, Tio Ricardo, Tia Raquel, and Tia Rosalba and yes, even Grandpa Chuy. Love you Grandma Carolina.
