My tribute to my dear friend Charlie. My husband & I met Charlie through mutual friends when he lived in Virginia, that was in 1964. Not too long after that we were sent back to SAN Diego. Shortly after that Charlie & his wife followed & our friendship never faltered. He was such a blessing, when my husband would be over seas, he kept my old cars going & what ever else that needed repaired. He & my husband were the best buddies, they were both Aries so that might tell you something. He was like a son to my husband & I. He would come over to visit or for dinner & tell us all about his exploits, we would hang on to every word as we could hardly believe that anyone dared to do or could do things that he did, & oh how he enjoyed life. He must have lived several lifetimes. My husband & I moved back to Florida in 1982 but we always kept in touch. After my husband died in 1996 I didn't seem to be able to talk to our old friends as the memories were to raw, but Charlie wasn't having that. He continued to call & would come to see me when I'd return to California to visit my daughter.then when I moved back in 2004 to Victorville, Ca, or as he called it, "the armpit of the world". He would come up from time to time to to catch up on " my honey dos " as he called them. After he & Carolann met they came up together, I'm. Sure I don't have to tell you how much they helped me. I remember once we were living in a 4 plex in the back at the top of the stairs, he came over with his invisible dog on a leash, even stopped to pick up the dog, maybe you had to be there to fully enjoy it. Every time we saw him was like a laugh fest. He never lost that child like zest for life. He always had a helping hand for ANYONE, sometimes you weren't even aware of the need, but when he had finished you'd be delighted & amazed. If a person has a friend like Charle once in a life time they are truly blessed & I am one of those. Thanks you Charley Brown, that's what I always called him. When we talked it was about any & everything, but we always ended with, I love you Charley & he with, I love you SusieQ or I love you girl. I recently read where a new guy moved into the neighborhood & was doing some work outside when. The next door neighbor came over with his nice big bag of tools. When they were through & the job was perfect, the new guy said, " what do you make with all those tools, & the fellow answered," mostly friends." To me that is the essence of Charlie. I miss & love you Charlie Brown, a Susie Q
