Charlotte A Webster's Obituary
"Because I couldn't stop for death, He kindly stopped for me"
Charlotte Ann Webster born June 20,1924 in LaSalle, IL passed away surrounded by family May 13, 2023.
Charlotte graduated from San Diego High School on her 17th birthday in 1941 and went immediately into the workforce. She spent years with the Immigration and Naturalization Service, served as private secretary for U. S. District Judge Jacob Weinberger, for whom the bankruptcy court is now named, stayed home with her children for a period, went back to the workforce for a special attorney, Lawrence Vigdor, and finally for The Wickes Corporation in their law department and human resources department.
She met her husband, George William Webster, the day the ship he was on came into San Diego. Their marriage rewarded them with three children. George's sudden death in 1992 left an unfillable void in their lives.
Charlotte and George moved to National City in 1969 where they both were engulfed in the community and its activities. George was on the Planning Commission, Lt. Gov. of Kiwanis, Citizen of the Year, Exec. Dir. Chamber of Commerce, Maytime Band Review and more. While Charlotte worked to enhance education and served on the Board of the National City School District for 15 years, a 55 year member of P.E.O. Chapter EE, a philanthropic educational order, Kiwanian for years, and worked with the National City Boys and Girls Club. Charlotte loved the San Diego Chargers and was a season ticket holder for 51 years.
To the very end Charlotte could be found with a cup of coffee and her crossword puzzle.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, sister, nephew, and her daughter.
Charlotte is survived by sons Tom and Jack (Natalie), granddaughter Leeann, granddaughter Pearl (Jeff), grandson Joel (Jessenia), granddaughter Joshlyn (Keith), granddaughter Karina, and granddaughter Kayla. She is survived by 8 great grandchildren, Jeffery, Piper, Charles, Presley, George, Ava, Aria, and Everett. She is also survived by niece Rexine and great nephew Steve (Maureen) and their families.
