Claudell Hunter's Obituary
OBITUARY Claudell Hunter was born to Clem Hunter and Alberta Brown -Alexander-Hershey on October 7, 1938 in Shreveport, Louisiana. He spent his formative years in Los Angeles, California where he graduated from high school and completed 2 years of College.Claudell Hunter Served in the Marine Corps from January 30, 1958 to September 18, 1977. He is a Vietnam Era and Peacetime Veteran. He did 2 ½ years in Security Detachment and served 11 months as Military Police. He was honorably discharged in 1977 from the Marine Corps into The Fleet Marine Corps Reserves until his retirement as Gunnery Sergeant (GYSGT) on February 1, 1988. His awards included: Meritorious Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal (W/3*), Pistol Sharpshooter Badge, Rifle Sharpshooter Badge and Purple Heart (W/1*). In 1978 he began his career with the United States Postal Service. Working at the George Washington Station 92102 and then the San Diego Station 92101, where he received multiple Special Achievement Awards. He was also Shop Steward for NALC Branch 70 (National Association of Letter Carriers). In total he dedicated more than 40+ years of service to the United States Government. He was a member of The American Legion Post 310.March 27, 2005 he was baptized at Christ Temple Apostolic Church of El Cajon, California.He was preceded in death by both parents and his older sister Freddie Mae Dixon.He leaves to mourn 2 children, daughter Teria Hunter (Mother: Ella J. Love), son Juan Hunter (Mother: Esther M. Hayes-Allen); 6 grandchildren, Brittany S. Lewis (22 yrs), Jermaine E. Wilson (18yrs), Giovanna M. Erbe (17yrs), Geneva M. Erbe (16yrs), Juan D. Hunter Jr. (10yrs), Nakayla M. Hunter (6yrs); stepfather Freeman Hershey of Seattle, Washington; brother Terry George (Jacqueline) of Kent, Washington; 3 sisters, Clementine Odom of Shreveport, Louisiana, Donna Hunter-Curry of Round Rock, Texas and Beverly Williams (Lawrence) of Seattle, Washington; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends.ACKNOWLEDGEMENTThe family wishes to thank you for your prayers and your special acts of kindness, love and support.Be BlessedThe Hunter FamilyTeria Hunter would like to personally thank Lucy J.
