Claudene Macintosh Martin's Obituary
Claudene McIntosh Martin was born on April 22, 1925 in Breckenridge, Texas. She lived in San Diego since 1930 and graduated from San Diego High School in June 1943. Claudene married her high school sweetheart, Harry Roberts Martin on May 29, 1944 in San Diego. Having been one of the few and earliest survivors of ovarian cancer via a hysterectomy in 1963, Claudene spent several years as a Life Member on the Sharp Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Claudene was a longtime Life Member of the Las Madrinas/Las Premiras charitable society in Chula Vista, supporting the Children’s Home Society. She was also President and Life Member of the Halecrest Elementary PTA in Chula Vista, CA. She was an active member of the Mission San Diego de Alcala, where Claudene and Harry served as Co-Presidents of the senior’s group, the Missionaires. She loved international travel, especially cruising and spent years tailgating and supporting her Padres. Claudene is survived by her four children, Donald M. Martin and his wife Maureen, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; Janis M. Nower and her husband Butch, Kings Ferry, New York; Barry T. Martin and his wife Linda, Pewaukee, Wisconsin and Gary R. Martin and his wife Cynthia, Carlsbad, California. Claudene has 13 grandchildren (Richard Nower, Rebekah Anguish, Mary Nower, Jamie Young, Aaron Martin, Grant Martin, Ashley Martin, Tara Martin, Kate Burbach, Geoffrey Martin, Sara Caplin, Chad Martin and Ty Martin. Claudene also has 7 great grandchildren (Kate and Zach Anguish, Ana Nower, Taryn and Jake Young, Owen and Teagan Martin). Donations in lieu of flowers can be submitted in Claudene’s name to the Mission San Diego de Alcala Restoration Fund at 10818 San Diego Mission Road, San Diego, California 92108-2498. A mass is scheduled for 12/2 @ 11am at the Mission San Diego de Alcala, followed by a graveside service at Greenwood Memorial Park at approx.12:45pm.
