Dear Family, How do I say goodbye to this wonderful lady? I can?t and I?m simply not ready to do that. I had the utmost joy to have shared many years of my teaching career with Connie, first as a vice principal and then principal. Connie was incredible in the way that she provided her leadership. She was incredibly, in fact, scary smart. She would have been a Jeopardy Champion for sure. Connie was a friend to everyone and treated everyone equally. Connie told me when she was a vice principal, ?Mike, when I get my own school, I?m going to make sure that you will be part of my staff!? She didn?t forget and yes I did become part of her staff until she retired. When I retired this past July, Connie came to my retirement party. As sick as she was, she found a way to be there, because she cared. Connie broke my heart that day. Seeing her at my party is an indelible memory for me. Finally, the picture of Connie is perfect and says so very much. This is the smile that she gave me when she was pleased with my work and happy. I can still see the twinkle. Also, this is the smile that she gave me all too often when I didn?t do well. This smile said to me, ?Mike, you?ll do better next time!? She still puts a smile in my heart, even though I?m looking through the tears in my eyes. Goodbye, my mentor, my inspiration, and my dear, dear friend. Mike Norman
