Cyndy D. Reynolds' Obituary
Cyndy Denise Reynolds was born to Ernest and Mae Reynolds on October 24, 1957 in Paris, Texas. Growing up in a military family, Cyndy spent much of her childhood traveling throughout California residing on and near Navy bases, making lifelong friends along the way.
At the age of 13, Cyndy accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. Throughout her childhood, Cyndy continued to be an obedient and responsible daughter. She was a humble trailblazer in the 1970’s: JC Penny's model, National Merit Scholarship Foundation recipient for one of the highest academic scores in the Pacific Coast region, editor of the Lemoore High School Tiger's Voice Newspaper, published in the 9th annual Who's Who Among High School Students, member of the track team, the judicial board, and officer in the California Scholarship Federation.
In 1975, Cyndy graduated from Lemoore High School and continued her education at San Diego State University. As a graduate in 1979, she earned multiple degrees - Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts with honors, Bachelor of Science in Journalism with distinction, and Bachelor of Science in Political Science with distinction. Cyndy completed her journalism internship at Channel 8 in San Diego and political science in Washington, DC. Later she attended a community college where she was certified as an IT Technician. Eventually, she landed her career in the Information Technology field as a Cardinal Health employee for 13 years.
Cyndy's faith, hope, and strength in Jesus carried her through many valleys. She faithfully participated in San Diego's Komen 5k Cancer Walks after her initial cancer diagnosis/treatment in 2011. She was an avid bargain hunter and excitedly shared the results of her treasure hunts so others could share in the experience. She had a passion for and was committed to volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, Friends of Cats Inc. (animal shelter), and Friends of the Library, both in El Cajon, California. Cyndy valued and found much joy in planning family vacations, her parents’ surprise birthday and anniversary celebrations, being an aunt to Everett, and surrogate grandmother to Chloe Tavizon.
As an active disciple (member) of The Rock Church - El Cajon, Cyndy confidently lived out her faith until the very end. At 63 years old, Cyndy made her transition on December 11, 2020, leaving temporary life on earth to eternal life in heaven after a brief battle with stage 4 breast cancer.
She is survived by her father and mother: Ernest and Mae Reynolds; nephew: Everett Price Reynolds; aunt: Emogene (Bernard) Whaley of Abilene, Texas; uncle: Saleem (Margaret) Rasheed of Kansas City, Missouri; cousins, and a host of friends. She also leaves behind a special bond with Ellsworth Hilt (ex-husband) and Melissa (Hugo) Tavizon.
She was preceded in death by her daughter: Kamilah Hasina Reynolds Hilt; brother: Tony Roderick Reynolds; seven uncles and ten aunts.
The family is once again grief-stricken but firmly holds onto the faithful, unchanging hand, hope, and future home with Jesus. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Susan G. Komen San Diego in Cyndy Denise Reynolds' memory.
