I am blessed for having known Darlene. We were graduate interns together at the University of RI, where we shared many laughs together. We later worked together at Providence College where I was able to witness her tenacity, her depth of character, her sweet personality and her wonderful sense of humor. I recall being in attendance at the event with Claiborne Pell cited below. Darlene, you leave me with many, many cherished memories. You will not be forgotten.
It has been one of life's greatest blessings spending so many days with Darlene. She was a great friend and a truly incredible person. Her strength and perseverance is unmatched. Her intelligence and success is admired. Her love and faith in God is an inspiration. She taught me so much about so many things- great music, great books, historical facts, random movie lines, and so much more. I will forever miss hearing her sweet voice and stories about her life that she would share from her near perfect memory. Darlene was a remarkable individual. I am a better person having known her. Until we meet again, dear friend.

I met Darlene at Southwestern College - I was a student-worker and she was my supervisor. It didn't take long for us to become friends... Darlene was simply a beautiful and sweet person. She was thoughtful, generous, and always so grateful. I will never forget her voice, her accent 💗, her passion for her job and for the people she served.

You were an amazing human being. You overcame obstacle after obstacle in your life. When many said you'd never be able to live on your own or to travel or to drive a car you went out and did them all. You had great strength and determination.
Now you are at peace and with God and will be for eternity.
We were inspired by you.
