Darley L. Bell's Obituary
Darley, also known as “Johnny”, was born November 2, 1929 in Tillamook County Oregon. He was one of four children born to Darley Davis and Grace Bell. Darley is survived by his two son’s Darley Michael and James Edward, his three Grandchildren, Christi Lynn, Darley Cameron, and Chandler Michael, and his Great Granddaughter Ashley Rosemarie and his two sisters, Georgia Ann Sells and Mary Jane Johnson.As a child, Darley learned the value of hard work by helping out on the family farm before school every morning. At 13 years old Darley worked at a saw mill after school cutting and splitting logs.Darley attended Monroe High School in Oregon where he lettered as a Varsity Basketball player as a Freshman. At the age of 17, Darley decided to leave High School and serve his country by joining the United States Navy in 1947.Darley served the US Navy for 22 years and retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer Construction Mechanic E8 with the “Seabees”. Darley was a Veteran of two Wars, Korea and Vietnam. While he was in the Navy, he met and married his first love Rosemarie White. They had two sons, Darley Michael in 1960 and James Edward in 1965. They divorced after 35 years of marriage.After retiring from the Navy in 1969, Darley was hired by Charles Myers Industrial Trucks, which later became Clarklift of San Diego. He retired from Clarklift in 1996 after 27 years of service.In 1986, Darley married the second love of his life Judi Holt. They were married for 10 wonderful years before Judi lost her fight with Breast Cancer.After retiring at the age of 66, Darley volunteered at Kaiser Hospital Emergency and the Registrar of Voters for 13 years up until his stroke in 2008.During his life, Darley loved and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, bowling, and watching his Grandchildren play sports. Darley was a dedicated and loving husband, Father and Grandfather. He will be deeply missed.The family will be having a Memorial Service at East Valley Christian Fellowship.
