David Lee Love's Obituary
David Lee Love was born on April 13, 1955 and passed on December 29, 2020. He was born in Portales, New Mexico to his parents Gladys Kingston and Floyd Douglas Springer. He was one out of four children, and was raised by Gladys and Kearny Love. He grew up in Kermit, Texas, where he worked at the family truck stop. On August 17,1973, David joined the United States Navy, where he served on one Target, and four Submarines. He served during Desert Storm and retired in 1993 as Chief Petty Officer, after serving 20 years. He continued to work after the military, and retired from PepsiCo after 18 years.
On July 16, 1977, David married the love of his life, Yolanda Love, in San Diego, California. They had three beautiful, accomplished children; Sheryl, James, and Shirley, who continue to leave positive impacts in the world as a reflection of their parenting.
David enjoyed adventure and was an avid history buff. He enjoyed traveling the world to historical sites and loved attending cruises with his love. One of the best and last places he traveled was the Holy Land. Growing up with strong Christian beliefs, visiting the Holy Land gave David a sense of peace and prosperity. David was an avid reader and a loving story-teller with a great sense of humor. He loved to laugh, especially when others were laughing with him.
David was an honest and loyal man. He strived on strength, perseverance, determination, and had a ‘Can Do’ attitude. He worked hard to support his family, and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and his great grandchildren. Some of the most important events in his life include: marrying the love of his life, being a grandparent, his children graduating college, and his service in the United States Navy... oh and marrying the love of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Yolanda Love; his three children, Sheryl (Mills), James, and Shirley (Perez); his grandchildren, Jalen, Javan, Jazmin, Alexis, Aly, Peyton, Zephan, David, Daisy; and great-grandchildren, Josiah and Hazel.
