David Baron Rottenberg's Obituary
David Baron Rottenberg went to be with his LORD on April 5, 2019. David was born in Harrow on the Hill, England on December 5, 1926.He was the youngest of six children born to Johannes and Cornelia Rottenberg. He grew up in Scheveningen, Holland, survived the five years of Nazi occupation, then enlisted in the Dutch Army where he served for three years.In 1949 Dave immigrated to the Lansing, Illinois area where he met and married his wife of 65 years, Kathryn ( Huizenga). They had three sons. In 1960 the family moved to San Diego and Dave started his new job at Solar Turbines where he worked for eleven years. The family became active members of the San Diego Christian Reformed Church where Dave served as an Elder, Sunday School Superintendent and Bible study leader.In 1971 Dave and Kathryn were hired as a team by the CRC to become directors of the Christian Serviceman’s center. They retired in 1995 after impacting and influencing thousands of lives. After retirement Dave and Kathryn enjoyed traveling and camping, working in the church and spending time with their children and grand children.David is survived by his wife Kathryn, children David and Nancy, Michael and Joyce, Curtis and Susan. Grandchildren; Jeff, Kimberly Porath, Derek, Kathryn Taylor, Matthew, Erica, Joshua,Valerie. Four great grandchildren. Sister in law Malwina Rottenberg of Denver, CO.Dave was deeply loved and greatly respected, he will greatly missed.A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, April 13th at 11:00 am, at Living Faith Community Church, 6745 Amherst St. San Diego.
