David H. Southwick's Obituary
David Herbert Southwick was born on November 18th, 1928 in St. Louis Missouri where he lived until 1943. He was the last of five children born to Louis & Flora Southwick. All of his siblings have pre-deceased him. He is survived by two sons, Joseph and Thomas and their families, including 6 grandchildren.David was a student at Kearny High School in San Diego, California and then joined the U.S. Navy upon completion of his diploma in 1948. That same year, he married the love of his life, Fern Lee Grey, and they made their home in Chula Vista. David was a dedicated sailor for 22 years, where he served in the Korean War and attained the title of Chief Petty Officer. After an honorable discharge in 1968, David was employed by the State of California’s Highway Department.Some of David’s favorite things to do were: spending time with his family (especially his nieces and nephews), spending time with his friends, hanging out with the guys at the VFW, gardening, coin collecting, and listening to Country Western music.
